Please review the following tour options. There are several options in the San Cristobal Canyon and the major differences between them is the length and intensity of the expedition, and what part of the Canyon you will visit. Due to our full-time jobs, tours take place on Saturdays and most Holidays, and it is required to book your tour in advance. All expeditions start at 7:00 a.m. in Barranquitas, P.R. and might take between 3 to 4 hours, including the briefing and preparation. Please be advised that there are no easy options in the San Cristobal Canyon. All tours require good physical condition, be able to hike in uneven, rocky terrain, swim (lifejacket provided) and bushwalking. All tours require a minimum of 5 people. If you don't have a party or are traveling alone, please visit the FAQ section for group options.
On this adventure we visit the first and most famous waterfall at the San Cristobal Canyon and learn about the history and geography of this natural space. We continue our hike to a river pond, where you can jump to the water and have a relaxing swim. Since we focus on the principle of "challenge by choice", you can choose to do 60 feet rappelling beside another small but fun waterfall.
Moderate
3-4 hours (2-3 miles) depending on the physical condition of the participants.
Hike, scramble, bushwalk, rappel and swim in this majestic tour. We will enjoy two of the most wonderful river ponds where you will have time to swim and also cliff jump (30 feet). Don't skip the rappelling experience; although it's optional, you will have fun going down the canyon's walls straight to the water. The cherry on top: visiting El Charco Azul. After enjoying this river and its waterfall, get those arms and legs ready to go back to the meeting point through the same route.
Moderate to hard
4 hours (4.5 miles) depending on the physical condition of the participants.
Although it is not always blue, we can assure you that Charco Azul is always beautiful and captivating. Enjoy swimming to the waterfall and the sound of nature.
Even though this is not the San Cristobal Canyon, nature always amazes us with its beauty, even in unconventional places. In this tour, our guides will take you through agricultural land to the top of a waterfall to enjoy the view. You will be in awe with the mountain view and the sound of a small waterfall and the river running down its path. But don't get too comfortable. You will do a 200 feet high rappelling down the waterfall.
Easy to moderate.
3 hours (.07 miles)
Although there are no vertical sports, you will enjoy the same river ponds and trekking experience described in the San Cristobal Canyon semi extreme trekking adventure to Charco Azul.
Moderate to hard.
3-4 hours (2-3 miles)
The most intensive adventure, combining all the San Cristobal Canyon tours in one adventure. 4 to 5 hours adrenaline rush hiking. This a "rim to rim" type of adventure where you start at one point of the Canyon and exit at another.
Extreme.
4-5 hours (3-4 miles)
This loop includes two waterfall rappelling, one waterfall climbing and 2.5 miles of hiking and river trekking on a private pristine gorge in our town Barranquitas.
Hard to extreme.
3-4 hours (2.5 miles)
Hike to the top of the highest peak in Barranquitas. This is a relatively short but intense hike that will reward you with a sight of our town's "plaza" (square) and its famous church and university. The trail is covered by trees, so you will have fun hiking up the hill through slippery and muddy terrain. If we are lucky, nature will reward us with the sound of wind whispering through the trees in the Camino del Viento (Wind Path), combined with the birdsongs of our endemic fauna.
Moderate.
2-3 hours (3 miles)
